WATERLOO — Every made spare and missed spare counted during Charles City’s boys bowling dual victory over Waverly-Shell Rock last Thursday at Maple Lanes as only 27 pins separated the two (2,973-2,946) when the total pinfalls were tabulated.

Go-Hawk senior Nolan Foster led all rollers in the individual round with a 439 two-game series, but the Comets seized the next two individual high series scores with junior Sullivan Gerleman (434) and sophomore Noah White (416) doing the honors.

Charles City’s girls team won its dual with the Go-Hawks (2,250-2,117).

Go-Hawk senior Carley Ator had a 351 series to lead the individual round followed by Comet senior Isabel Crawford (336), Comet freshman Alexis Putney (329) and Comet senior Payton Hadley (327).

Both Comet teams improved to 6-3; both Go-Hawk teams fell to 5-4.

Charles City will host Waukon this Friday (Feb. 14) at Comet Bowl for the final regular-season duals.

Comet Bowl will serve as the site for next week’s Class 1A state-qualifiers with the girls SQ on Monday (Feb. 17) and the boys SQ on Tuesday (Feb. 18).
