Comets defeat Chickasaws in boys golf season-opener

NEW HAMPTON — A day after their home triangular against Nashua-Plainfield and Osage was cancelled due to weather, the Charles City Comets opened the boys golf season on the road with a 164-175 victory over New Hampton, Tuesday at New Hampton Golf and Country Club.
Comet senior Riley Perez earned medalist honors with a nine-hole score of 36.
Charles City senior Carson Gallup was runner-up (39), with junior Sawyer Hanson (43) and senior Nick Williams and junior Bryce Walker both shooting 46s to round out CC’s scoring.
The Comet boys will be back in action next Monday (April 14) when they travel to Waverly Municipal Golf Course for a meet against Waverly-Shell Rock.
