Stewart, Ward win multiple events at Osage Coed Track and Field Invitational

OSAGE — Charles City senior Leah Stewart, who holds school records in the girls discus and shot put which she set last season, achieved her first throwing victories of the season during Tuesday’s Osage Coed Track and Field Invitational.
Stewart won the discus with a throw of 115 feet, 9 inches, and the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 7 ½ inches.
Charles City junior Victor Ward won his first race of the season with a winning time of 11.63 seconds on the boys 100-meter dash.
Ward also anchored the Comets’ winning boys 4-by-200 relay (1 minute, 36.53 seconds) also consisting of Bill Bruening, Patrick Bruening and Xander Graeser.
Comet senior Jordin Ritter won his first boys long jump event with a leap of 19 feet, 10 inches.
The Comets placed third among eight teams with a coed combined scored of 93 team points, behind meet winner Osage (134) and runner-up Saint Ansgar (99).
