Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

Saturday, Sept. 19

• PAWS Humane Society Cedar Dog Jog starts at 8:30 a.m,; registration 7:30-8:15 a.m.; masks required at start; pre-register by Sept. 10 to guarantee a T-shirt; in-person and virtual options available; register online at: https://register.chronotrack.com/r/58860.

• Free drive-by garden produce distribution, 10 a.m. to noon at Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles City, at the west driveway entrance, courtesy of Growing Iowa Together and donations by local gardeners.


Saturday, Sept. 26

• Charles City Community Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to noon at Messiah Lutheran Church, 705 3rd Ave. Appointments required by calling 800-287-4903 or going to lifeservebloodcenter.org.

Wednesday, Sept. 30

REGULAR EVENTS

• Charles City Farmers Market – 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, on Blunt Street by Central Park, ends Oct. 17.

Charles City Senior Center Congregate Meals will resume Oct. 5 on a trial basis as drive-thru only. Meals will be available from noon to 12:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, but must be reserved by the previous Friday at 1 p.m. by calling 641-228-3114 and leaving a message reserving a meal for a day or an entire week. Enter on the west side of the Senior Center parking lot and pull up to the front doors. Masks are mandatory. Price for meals for under 60 years of age is $8.10. Recommended donation for persons age 60 and older is $4.25 to $6.75. Please have diner card or correct cash ready to pay.
