The interior of the Charles City Public Library is getting a bit of a makeover this week.
Joshua Johnson, owner of Johnson Painting, started work on painting the entryway and the bathrooms of the library last Thursday.
The accent walls near the entryway have been painted dress blue and the main section of the library will receive a coat of paint that is described by library Director Annette Dean as being brownish gray.
She said some parts of the library haven’t received a new coat of paint since the remodel in 2000.
The entryway, along with the Zastrow Room, will be finished by Monday of next week. That’s the first part of a three-phase project that will be completed sometime in July, according to Dean. The separate projects, all done by Johnson Painting, will be split over the course of two fiscal years and include the main section of the library as well as the staffing area.
“It was a priority set by the board. It’s been in the works for a couple of years,” said Dean.
