It’s all fun and games

The games were afoot Tuesday afternoon at the Charles City Public Library.

While the teachers in the Charles City School District took a day of professional learning without students, the kids were invited to the library for some friendly competition.

“The library has all these games, so we thought it would be fun to get them out and let kids come and play,” said Stacey Leerhoff, youth services director at the library. “Families or teens, anybody was welcome to come.”

Euro games, card games and traditional board games were available. Around 2:30 p.m., about a dozen kids and some of their parents were in different groups, playing such games as chess, checkers, Stratego, Pictionary, Clue, Jenga and Cat In The Hat.
