As of this week, Donna Forsyth’s CNA students at Charles City High School are no longer just students — they’re actual certified nursing assistants.
CCHS seniors Zach Graeser and Avery Merta, juniors Kaylee Anderson, Emma Schmiedel, Hannah Lahner and Jordan Boyce and sophomore Reign Vallebo all successfully completed the CNA course they’ve been taking all school year.
“I am very proud of these seven students,” Forsyth said. “They were committed to the program, came in early every day and all passed the state test.”
The class was facilitated by Kathy Cerwinske of Chautauqua Guest Homes, and Forsyth credited the Charles City nursing home with supporting the class.
Forsyth said the students have been coming into school at 6 a.m. for their CNA lab work.
“I am so excited for these students and the amazing future they have in front of them,” Forsyth said. “They are all very caring individuals and are truly passionate about helping others.”
