‘McTeacher’s Night’ at McDonalds
Charles City Lincoln Elementary School administrative support staffer Jeanine Tudor and 4th-grade teacher Melinda Masters pose with the Soifer Family McDonald’s mascot, Birdie, Wednesday evening. The public was invited to join Lincoln teachers, administrators and staff members for the first “McTeacher’s Night” at McDonalds. Customers could meet teachers in the drive-thru or inside the restaurant as they served with the McDonald’s crew. A portion of the proceeds from the fundraising event went to the school, and at the end of the shift teachers were presented with a check of $844.94. (Press photo James Grob.)

Charles City Council finalizes City Hall renovation design choices
This computer-generated architect's design shows what the remodeled Charles City City Hall could look like, seen from Clark Street. The covered brick arch along the front of the building would be removed, a canopy and handicapped-accessible entrance would be added and the building would be covered in materials with a variety of testures and colors, including perforated metal panels on the "wing walls" that extend from the north and south sides of the building, with a flowing "wave" design.
