Thomas M. Sosack, 49, of Charles City, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

A Memorial Gathering will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at the Elks Lodge in Charles City. According to his wishes, private family inurnment will take place in Colorado.

Arrangements are with Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge Veterans Fund.

Thomas Michael Sosack was born June 25, 1966, in Lynwood, Calif., the son of Michael John and Linda Kay (Daugherty) Sosack. He was a graduate of the Sante Fe Springs High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. He received an Honorable Discharge. The family moved to Iowa in 2007. Thomas was very active in the local veteran programs with his therapy dog.

He had been the Exalted Ruler of the local Elks Club #418.

Survivors include his parents; Linda (Ed) Poliak of Cedar Falls; one brother, Scott (Michelle) Poliak of Fairchild, Wis.; four sisters, Katherine Curlee of Waverly, Diane Poliak of Loma Linda, Calif., Darlene (Cayle) Yant of Waverly, Theresa (Tony) Promer of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandmother, Marian Daugherty.
