Allen Dean Weeks

Allen Dean “Bud” Weeks was born Aug. 30, 1935 in Brayton, son of Albert James and Vera Ruth (Nelson) Weeks.

He graduated from Hudson High School in 1954. Bud served his country in the United States Army in Germany from Dec. 2, 1954 to Nov. 17, 1956. On Dec. 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Faye Paton at the Reinbeck United Methodist Church. Bud went to work for Rath Packing Plant for 26 years while farming full time in the Hudson area with Geri by his side until his retirement in 2001. Bud was a gifted artist who also enjoyed reading. He was a big supporter of FFA and 4-H as a means to share his love of farming with future generations. Above all, Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather who attended his grandchildren’s activities through fair and rough weather.

Bud died at the age of 80 years on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Northcrest Specialty Care in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved Geri, who passed away exactly one month earlier; and sister, Barbara Vesely.

Bud is survived by his four children: Martin (Deb) Weeks of Hudson, Dené (Jim) Lundberg of Floyd, Nancy (John) McMillan of Aurora, and Spencer (Carla) Weeks of Vinton; 11 grandchildren: Megan (Zeb), Allen, Natasha, Bryce, Caleb (Lauren), Grant, Travis, Natalie, Austin, Carter, and Bailey; two great grandchildren, James and Peyton; and two sisters, Beverly (Larry) Lorenzen of Traer and Mary Lou Weeks of Phoenix, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or given to a charity of your choice in Bud’s honor. A visitation is scheduled for the Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, April 13 from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. The service is scheduled at Reinbeck United methodist Church, 505 Spruce St., Reinbeck, on Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m.
