Galen R. Pyle

Galen R. Pyle, 77, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at his home after a lengthy illness.

Galen Richard Pyle was born on Oct. 12, 1942, in Charles City to Glenn and Betty (Schilling) Pyle. He graduated from CCHS in 1960. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1969, he started his lifelong job with Hughes Aerospace. He retired in 1998 from Hughes.

He and his wife, Bernice, traveled the United States in their motorhome after retirement, until settling in Bernice’s hometown of San Antonio, Texas.

Galen is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bernice; son Stephen; daughters Janelle, Christine and Michelle; three stepdaughters; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and sisters Ginger Meyer and Sally Short.

He was preceded by his parents, Glenn Pyle and Betty (Schilling) Mejia; grandparents Earl and Susie (Poncin) Pyle, Leo and Erna (Valeske) Schilling.
