OSAGE — Two days removed from the Saint Ansgar Invitation which was shot during perhaps the best day of the spring thus far, the Charles City/Nashua-Plainfield trapshooting team returned to the Mitchell County Trap Range for a dual against Osage.

This time the weather shot back.

Competitors for the most part were pelted by a windswept and cold rain that blew right into their faces. It was especially a hazard for those who wore glasses or protective eyewear as beads on their lenses didn’t make things much easier.

Needless to note, scores from some of the upper-echelon shooters from all squads were in the season-low range, though some managed to fight through the uncomfortable and obscuring conditions.

Osage 1, led by Ben Popp and Jenna Plotzke, who respectively took top male and female honors with scores of 48 and 46 that both included perfect 25-of-25 rounds, won the meet with a team score of 218.

Charles City 2, paced by Jace Landt (47) and Justin Heyer (44), placed second with team score of 205.

Charles City 1, led by Kaleb Osier’s 45, placed third (203).
Nashua-Plainfield 1 got a pair of 46s from Cooper Fisher and Kollyn Lentz; and Charles City 4 was led by Caleb Hejna’s 45 as both teams tied for fourth with 196 team scores.

CC/N-P will be back in action on Thursday when it hosts Turkey Valley at Nashua Fish and Game Club.
