Rockford downs North Iowa in Class 1A; N-P ends hoops season

Rockford (12-9) moved on to the semifinal round of Class 1A postseason play on Thursday night with a 56-51 win over North Iowa (8-15).

Rockford senior Matt Schubert went 7-14 from the field and scored 18 points in the win over North. He also snared 12 rebounds, amassed four assists and notched three blocks.

Justice Jones added 14 points. Nathan Muller netted eight points and Kolton Lyman scored seven points for Rockford.

The Warriors will face West Hancock (13-10) in a Class 1A, District 3 semifinal on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Mills. The winner of that contest moves on to the district finals and will face the winner of a ranked Lake Mills (20-2) squad or Mason City Newman Catholic (10-11) on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Garner.

Nashua-Plainfield (11-11) saw its season come to a close after encountering a 51-46 setback to South Winneshiek (14-8) in a Class 1A, District 4 quarterfinal matchup.
