Press Staff Report
Someday when social distancing measures are lifted enough for someone to set a screen, basketball will be played again.

And when that day comes, Matt Schubert will be playing for the Simpson College Storm.

The Rockford senior signed his letter of intent to play for Simpson on Wednesday.

Schubert was an All-Top of Iowa Conference first-teamer after leading the Warriors with double-double average totals in scoring (14.8 points per game) and rebounding (10.7 rebounds per game).

Schubert also led the Warriors in field goal percentage (59%), blocked shots (79) and slam dunks as the 6-foot-8 frontliner often played above the rim.

Schubert helped the Warriors achieve a winning record overall (12-10) and advance to the second round of the postseason.

The Storm is also coming off a winning record (14-13). Simpson, an NCAA Division III program, advanced to the semifinal round of the American Rivers Conference Tournament before losing to eventual ARC champs Nebraska Wesleyan.
