Mary Kay Anderson
Mary Kay (Freund) Anderson, 74, of Mason City, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa, Mason City.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022 at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 N. Adams Ave., Mason City with Rev. Neil Manternach, Celebrant. A livestream of her funeral Mass will be available at EpiphanyParish.org.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, Nov. 1, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, with the Rosary being recited at 4:30 p.m.
The daughter of Peter and Catherine “Marceille” (Curley) Freund, Mary Kay was born on March 20, 1948 in Belmond. She graduated from Rockwell Swaledale High School. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Anderson, II and they had one son, Martin Charles “Marty”. Charles passed away Thanksgiving night, 1984.
For 13 years Mary Kay worked for Sears in Mason City before accepting a position with Mercy Medical Center Internal Medicine where she worked in medical records.
In earlier years Mary Kay was active with the Moose Lodge and the VFW Women’s Aux. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially shopping with her mother. Countless hours were spent in the company of her sisters, Paulette and Debbie, and her beloved Aunt Mary. She also loved playing cards, and in recent years developed many cherished friendships at Good Shepherd.
Those grateful in sharing in her life include her son, Marty Anderson and his children, Liam and Jameson Anderson; sisters, Paulette (Roger) Gabel and Debbie (David) Gabel; aunts, Mary Claussen, Beulah Curley, and Jean Gabel; special friend, Marianne (Myron) Lunning; as well as extended family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Catherine; husband, Charles; and father and in law, Leonard and Elizabeth Tosel.
