Chamber, AAUW to host local candidate forum

To the Press

Floyd County voters will have the opportunity to meet and hear from the candidates vying to represent them at a Candidate Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City.

Hosted by the Charles City chapter of American Association of University Women and the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce, the forum will feature candidates running for sheriff, county supervisor, state representative and state senator in Floyd County. All of the candidates running in those contested races have been invited to participate in the forum, which will not be a debate but rather feature comments from the candidates and responses to selected questions from the audience.

Agreeing to take part in the forum are sheriff candidates Jeffrey Crooks and William Vetter, supervisor candidates Roy Schwickerath and Linda Tjaden, state representative candidates Todd Prichard and Stacie Stokes, as well as state senator candidates Mary Jo Wilhelm and Waylon Brown.

The public is encouraged to submit questions for the candidates in writing ahead of time to the Chamber Office, 401 N. Main St., e-mail info@charlescitychamber.com, or else at the forum the night of the event. Submitted written questions only will be considered by the selection committee, with no live questioning from the audience during the event. This is to ensure appropriateness and eliminate duplication of questions.

This forum is free and open to all. Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 601 Milwaukee St. in Charles City.
