An advisory board key to the formation of the Floyd County budget will meet next week.

The first meeting of the Floyd County Compensation Board begins at 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 28, in the board room on the second floor of the courthouse.

This panel of Floyd County residents will recommend whether to give county elected officials — the county attorney auditor, recorder, sheriff and supervisors — pay increases for the next fiscal year.

The recommendation to change the pay of those officials also affect some personnel working for each office. The pay would change for the assistant county attorney, one deputy auditor, one deputy recorder, three deputy treasurers and 10 sheriff’s deputies.

The membership of the compensation board is comprised of appointees to four-year terms from each of the officials. The members are:

— Kalen Schlader of Charles City and Virginia Ruzicka of Marble Rock were appointed by the county supervisors. Their terms end June 30, 2017.

— Lisa Garden of Charles City was appointed by County Auditor Gloria Carr. Garden’s term ends June 30, 2020.

— Steve Shannon of Charles City was appointed by Sheriff Rick Lynch. Shannon’s term ends June 30, 2019.

— Veronica Litterer of Charles City was appointed by County Recorder Deb Roberts. Litterer’s term ends June 30, 2020.

— Scott Tjaden of Charles City was appointed by the County Treasurer Frank Rottinghaus. Tjaden’s ter ends June 30, 2019. He is the nephew of newly elected County Supervisor Linda Tjaden.

The business of the first meeting will be to elect the chair and vice chair, review the minutes of the Dec. 14, 2015 meeting, listen to presentations by elected officials, discuss and review salaries for 2017-18 and then set the next meeting date.

Last year, the compensation board recommended and the supervisors approved a 2.27 percent pay increase for the attorney, auditor, recorder, sheriff and treasurer; and a 1.27 percent increase for the supervisors.

The new salaries that took effect July 1, 2015 were:

— County attorney: $93,618

— County sheriff: $82,044

Any new pay changes will take affect July 1, 2016.
