Filings begin coming in for Floyd County offices

By Bob Steenson, bsteenson@charlescitypress.com

As of Friday afternoon, three people have officially filed for Floyd County office in the election in November.

Filing began March 5 for the party primary for two supervisors seats, county recorder, county treasurer and county attorney.

Roy Schwickerath and Stewart Dalton have both filed nomination papers for county supervisor, according to Amanda Thielen, election clerk at the Floyd County Auditor’s Office.

There are two supervisor positions up for election this year, those held by Mark Kuhn and Doug Kamm. Kuhn has said he will not seek re-election.

The other filing is by Rachel Ginbey, county attorney, seeking another term in that position, Thielen reported.

The county filing period runs until March 28 for anyone who will run in the party primary election to be held June 5.

Deb Roberts has announced she will seek re-election for county recorder, but she does not run on a party ticket. The filing period for non-party nominations is Aug. 6-29.

Also on the ballot Nov. 6 will be Iowa House 52, currently held by Todd Prichard, D-Charles City, as well as governor/lieutenant governor, secretary of state, auditor of state, treasurer of state, secretary of agriculture and attorney general.

The filing period for the party primary for state offices ends March 16. The non-primary filing period for state offices is July 30-Aug. 17.
