Shirley Rae Peters

Shirley Rae (Jacobsen) Peters was born October 21, 1934 in Waterloo, IA to Otto Jacobsen and Camilla (Fredricksen) Jacobsen.  On June 18, 1953 she married Jack Duane Peters in New Hampton, IA.  Shirley and Jack made their home in Charles City, IA until 1982.  They then moved to Longview, TX before ultimately making their home in Katy, TX.

Over the years, Shirley worked for Ray’s Pizza, Secretary for The Charles City Municipal Airport, Bookkeeper for K-Mart in both Charles City, IA and Longview, TX.  In 1986 she began working in Houston, TX at MacGregor Medical Association as a Medical Transcriptionist.  She remained at MacGregor Medical Association until her retirement.  She later enjoyed working part-time as a tour guide for the George Ranch Historical Park and Museum, Rosenberg, TX.

Shirley was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles City, IA and Parkway Fellowship Church, Katy, TX.  She was also a former member of Sweet Adeline’s and Arts in the Park, Charles City, IA.  She enjoyed bowling, camping, horses, singing, dancing, drawing, painting, Elvis music and movies.  She leaves behind special memories of her and Jack dancing and an array of her beautiful paintings along with many loving and fun-filled times with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Deb Hammel; Teri (Robert) Brown; Sherry (Gary) Singer; Renee Fisher; Jacki (Walter) Vail and Jodi Dukat.  Grandchildren: Ryan Hammel; Kevin (Erin) Hammel; Jay McCleary (Jennifer Michael); Paul McCleary (Donna Clark); Heather McCleary (Nigel Berry); Scott Tweed; Corey (Jenny) Parcher; Kristen (Todd) Hart; Renee (Jonathan) Owen; Kelsey (Danny) Jacobson; Natalie Fisher (Christopher Perroni); Travis Fisher; Lauren Fisher; Misty (Matthew) Tiemann; Amber Vail; Brandi Vail (Steven Badger); Gage Dukat and Jack Dukat.  Along with 28 Great-Grandchildren, and several Nieces & Nephews.  She is also survived by special friends Sue Hart and Ralph Oliver.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jack Peters; Parents, Otto & Camilla Jacobsen; Father-in-Law, John Peters; Mother-in-Law, Juanita (Scott) Peters; Sister, Joanne Green; Brother-in-Law, Gene Green; Sister-in-Law, Connie Matheny; Son-in-Law, Rick Fisher; Son-in-Law, Scott Dukat; Granddaughter, Ashley Fisher; Nephew, Paul Erlandson.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, TX  77494 with Pastor Adam Jungeblut officiating.
