Burton ‘Buzz’ Peterson

Burton “Buzz” Peterson, 81, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A memorial service for Buzz will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at The Bridge Church in Charles City with Mark Jenkins officiating.

Burton “Buzz” Clarence Peterson, the son of Bert and Edith (Coyer) Peterson, was born on March 21, 1937 in Fulda, Minnesota. He graduated from Fulda High School. He was united in marriage to Ruby Gibbs on April 13, 1957 in Worthington, Minnesota.

Buzz attended a barber college in Sioux City and was a barber for many years before working as a USDA food inspector for 33 years. He enjoyed his old cars, wood working, and reading books.

Living family members include his wife of 61 years, Ruby; son, Mark (Sandy) Peterson; daughter, Dawn Peterson; grandchildren: Samantha Vigil, Vanessa Vigil, Ruby Peterson, and Xavier Peterson; great-grandson, Daren Mitchel; and brother, Orlan Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shane; and siblings: Kenneth, Ester, and Mary.
